Online WORKSHOP
Sunday, October 24 – Sunday, November 21, 2021
Each Sunday, 4:00-6:00pm EDT/EST
Led by Anndee Hochman
Limited to 12 participants
You’ve already dipped a toe—or maybe your whole body—into the sea of memoir. You’ve played with scene-setting, summary and reflection. You’ve considered how to start a piece and move it energetically along. In this five-session workshop, you’ll stretch beyond what you already know—in both content and craft—to discover “the story” beneath the anecdote. You’ll practice finding words and structures to express complexity, empathy, uncertainty and truth; you’ll work to answer the question, “What is this memoir really about?” Sessions will include provocative writing prompts, discussion of inspiring memoir excerpts and opportunities to share and receive feedback on your work. Designed for writers who have taken a memoir workshop before.
“The readings were interesting and informative. The assignments and feedback were excellent. The pace felt just right for me, even with other responsibilities.”
~ Deborah, Egg Harbor City, NJ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’ve taken dozens of workshops. What will I get out of this one?
Our faculty challenge experienced writers to push beyond their usual limits. If you have been writing for decades, they will compel you to go deeper, take more risks and experiment with form and content. We know that experienced writers benefit from our programs based on the fact that hundreds of “re-PETERs” have attended three or more of our writing getaways.
I’ve never taken an online workshop before. Do I need special equipment?
No. If you’re reading this website, you probably have everything you need to take this course. You can participate using a laptop or desktop computer, or even a tablet or smart phone.
