Online WORKSHOP
Friday, July 28 – Friday, August 25, 2023
Each Friday, 6:00-8:00pm EDT
Led by Eric Bell
Limited to 12 participants
Always wanted to write a story, but never felt like you could? Writing regularly and feeling stuck? Writing is one of the most fulfilling means of expression, but if you dread the act of sitting down and putting words together, you might never finish the stories you were meant to tell. In this five-week online workshop, you’ll spend each class engaging in fun exercises to broaden your ideas of what you can do with your fiction, nonfiction or memoir. Through writing prompts, music and improv games (though you’ll never have to do anything you’re uncomfortable with!), you will rejuvenate your writing process, so the next time a voice in your head says you can’t write, you prove it wrong. Come to this workshop with an open mind and good humor.
“Eric Bell was amazing and knowledgeable—a great choice for an instructor! He did a wonderful job of organizing the materials for the class. I learned so much from the information he shared and from participating in the writing prompts. I even learned from listening to the writing prompt results of my fellow classmates. I’m glad I participated.”
~ Julie, Michigan City, IN

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’m new to writing workshops. Will I fit in?
Absolutely! Our experienced workshop leaders plan their courses to benefit both beginning and experienced writers. We pride ourselves on building an encouraging community of writers where all feel welcome.
I’ve taken dozens of workshops. What will I get out of this one?
Our faculty challenges experienced writers to push beyond their usual limits. If you have been writing for decades, they will compel you to go deeper, take more risks and experiment with form and content. We know that experienced writers benefit from our programs based on the fact that hundreds of “re-PETERs” have attended three or more of our writing getaways.
I’ve never taken an online workshop before. Do I need special equipment?
No. If you’re reading this website, you probably have everything you need to take this course. You can participate using a laptop or desktop computer, or even a tablet or smart phone.
